Old Colonel: An Inspiration for Independence

An eerie portrait of William Faulkner painted by his mother hangs from the wall of his office at Rowan Oak shedding off a vibe of independence. "He allowed other southern authors to tell of their South," said Bill Griffith, tour guide and Faulkner expert at the site. "Faulkner really brought modern literature to the South".
